  1. It's actually a half-ironman. I wish people would get that right. Having done the full Ironman, I can a test that the half and the full are worlds apart.

    Compare the two:
    1.2 mile swim 2.4
    56 mile bike 112
    13.1 mile run 26.2

Yes in a full ironman, you run a full marathon or the distance from the FIU University Campus up the turnpike and 75 to the Weston Town Center, after swimming 2.4 miles and biking 112 miles.

Finishing times? My halfs take me 7hours. The full took me 14 hours 52 minutes and 8 seconds. That 112 mile bike ride was 7hrs and 17 minutes. Almost a full day at work sitting on a bike seat and pedaling. That's a world of difference from the half.

  2. Eddie, it says "70.3" in title. It's plain to see it's half the distance of a full Ironman.

Big difference between the two, obviously. However it does not take away from the fact that this is still the first "Ironman" in Miami.

  3. I know you said 70.3, re-reading my comment I see I wasn't clear. A Pinecrest Tribune article and whichever other articles I've read that I can't remember now said Ironman. And even the electric signage say ironman.

And I know it's huge having this event here. Don't mean to diminish that. But I hear so many people saying they are doing the Miami Ironman or the ironman in Miami and it irks me.
