Today, 23 year old Mario Renteria embarks on his 3,500+ mile bicycle ride across America, from Miami, FL to San Francisco, CA. I encourage all of you to check out his For No Particular Reason ride diary blog. I briefly discussed the trek with Mario during the MS150 this past weekend, he intends on riding an average of 75 miles daily for the next 6-7 weeks.

Best of luck to you Mario, have a safe and wonderful ride. Enjoy the adventure.

In his own words:

"I'm a Miami native, currently 23 and will be celebrating my 24th birthday somewhere on the road. I work as a network administrator for Road America, have a part time job at All4Cyling-USA, and attend FIU. I became intrigued by loaded touring sometime last year and decided that I wanted to have a go at it. There had been very little planning done over the months leading up to the ride. Everything has been coming together in the last few weeks. Initially, this was supposed to be for a charity but raising a significant amount of money was extremely difficult for myself (I had a hard enough time raising up the money for the MS Bike Ride). The ride has now become a personal goal of mine with little more reason than adventure and self discovery. There were a number of friends that wanted to join me on the ride but they quickly began dropping out. I'm only days away from taking off and at this point I can only hope for the best."
