If you live/work or ride in Fort Lauderdale you are also encouraged to attend the city commission meeting on July 10th.

The City Commission will meet at 1:30 July 10 at City Hall to hear a request from a few Las Olas Isles residents who want to turn Las Olas into a four-lane road from the beach to Andrews. This would remove bike lanes and other traffic-calming devices, perhaps even parking, turning Las Olas into a high-speed road more like Sunrise Boulevard than an entertainment district.

While this will affect just a few blocks, it will also signal a direction for the new City Council. We hope they recognize that local residents have indicated in surveys, year after year, that one of their highest priorities is making our streets more accessible to cyclists and pedestrians.

Bike Walk FTL will be there to argue to keep the bike lanes and hopefully show that they are good for the city. We hope you can join us!
