As promised here's a brief recap & photos from my trip to New York last week. I brought my bike on the plane and spent most of my days and nights riding around the city. I think New York is a great place to ride, there were lots of bicycle lanes/paths/sharrows and it was easy to get around the boroughs. Some of my favorite places to ride were Central Park, Prospect Park, through Brooklyn to Fort Tilden, Palisades Park and Route 9W in New Jersey. I attended the Manhattan Critical Mass, opening day races at the Kissena Velodrome, Time's Up! First Saturday/Solidarity Ride to Brooklyn Museum, and the Five Boro Bike Tour. I also visited the Bicycle Film Festival, offices and was told the BFF is tentatively scheduled to come back to Miami, FL in November '10.

The Five Boro Bike Tour was amazing though painfully slow in some areas. Participants were allowed to ride on FDR Drive, Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and Verrazano Bridge to Staten Island where we then took the ferry back to Manhattan. 32,000 cyclists participated in the ride, check out the photos!

I spent Cinco de Mayo in ATL, today I'm in Huntsville, AL where they have a great bicycling community and strong monthly Critical Mass ride. It's been very difficult for me to access a computer hence the delay with updates. Tomorrow I'll be in Memphis, TN.
