Thursday, March 8th
6pm-8pm

Miami Children's Hospital
Research Atrium
3100 SW 62nd Ave
Miami, FL 33155

We're strongly urging cyclists to attend this meeting, together we can show FDOT that we expect the addition of bicycle facilities along SW 57th Ave. The Miami Bike Scene will be hosting a group ride to the public meeting (weather permitting), we're asking cyclists who wish to join us to meet at 5:30pm at the University Metrorail Station. Don't forget to bring lights as it will be dark when we return.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six is designing
construction plans for a roadway project on State Road (SR) 959/SW 57 Avenue from
US1/S Dixie Highway to SW 24 Street/Coral Way.

The proposed work includes the restriping of travel lanes and the addition of 2.5 feet of new pavement to accommodate paved shoulders along both sides of the road which could serve as bicycle lanes.

If you recall, in early 2011 an FDOT meeting was held regarding bicycle lanes on 57th Ave between Coral Way and SW 8th St. If bicycle facilities on both projects became a realization then there would be close to 4 miles of bike lanes between US1 & SW 8th St. An added bonus is that the bike lanes would connect to the already existing M-Path on US1/57th Ave.
