If you have ever heard about pedal-assist electric bicycles, here’s your chance to check it out and have great fun!

The Electric Bike Expo is a national experiential event that travels around the country giving bicycle riders the opportunity to learn, try and have fun test riding the latest in pedal-assist electric bicycles. Making its first stop ever in Florida, the Electric Bike Association has chosen Haulover Park in Miami Beach to play host to the outdoor event on the weekend of October 13-15, 2017.

A pedal-assist bicycle provides the subtle power to take the hills out of a ride, or eliminate the pain from an old sports injury as you pedal for health and enjoy the great outdoors.

Sponsored by Bosch, with track sponsor Trek Bicycles, attendees will have the chance to test ride as many as 150 different electric bikes from the leading brands around the country, and it is all free.

Filling a good portion of the Marina parking lot, consumers will have the chance to chat directly with manufacturer representatives from bike makers like Specialized, Giant, Cannondale, Stromer, Easy Motion, Bulls, Elby, Smartmotion, Schwinn, Riese Muller, Urban Arrow, Tern, Electra, ProdecoTech, and a half dozen more. Local retailers will be present to showcase the brands they sell as well as talk to potential customers about their service and support capabilities.

Tempo Bicycle is another important sponsor who will be raffling off one of their bikes for a local charitable organization. The winner will be picked on Sunday afternoon.

BMW will be under their own pavilion showcasing both their electric cars as well as their own line of electric bikes. People can talk the the staff about the cars and take the bikes for a test ride on the track.

Within the Bosch pavilion visitors will have the chance to see the latest information on the company’s new mid-drive motor upgrades and try some additional brands like Raleigh, Gazelle, iZip, Lifebike and others.

Riders can try the latest in commuter bikes, mountain bikes, cargo bikes, fat tire bikes, beach cruisers, folding bikes and everything in between.

The event is free to the public for the simple exchange of information about your bike riding knowledge and habits. Beyond the simple registration, we even provide loaner helmets for riders 16 and older to take as many bikes out onto the closed loop test track. Families are invited and adults can take children for rides on the latest cargo bikes.

Another special fundraising effort is going on with the chance to win a new Smartmotion electric bike and help out the residents of Key West rebuild.

A free introductory session in the presentation theater called “eBikes 101: an introduction to electric bikes” will be presented on Friday at 4:30pm, Saturday morning at 10am and Sunday morning at 11am. This is a great way to start the fun the right way.

We will have a DJ on Saturday afternoon to help with the beach party mood and to promote the Key West Fundraiser.

Brose Electric Drive systems will be present to teach both shop owners and consumers about their eBike drive systems. Abus will be talking about bike locks and Lumos helmets will be showing the latest headgear with headlights, brake lights and turn signals.

Families with kids 6 and under are advised to get there early as the first 6 kids with their families (6 and under) will receive a free Melon Helmet on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
