Pedal Through History: Unlocking the Stories Behind Gables’ Iconic Gateways

"Join Dade Heritage Trust and former Coral Gables City Commissioner Ralph Cabrera on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025, for a fascinating ride through history! We’ll explore George Merrick’s grand entrances – ornate gateways built a century ago to welcome visitors to the “City Beautiful.”

These iconic entrances are more than architectural gems; they reveal the political and historical forces that helped shape South Florida. Along the way, you’ll uncover surprising stories, including Merrick’s role in the construction of the Tamiami Trail, a road that forever changed the region’s landscape.

Bring your bike, your curiosity, and your sense of adventure!"

Tours start 10AM at the Coral Gables Museum and includes museum admission. Each tour is approximately 2 to 3 hours long. $10; $5 for Museum and Bike Walk Coral Gables members, Coral Gables city employees, and children under 12.
