Stolen Bike Alert

Jen K's black Pake track bike was stolen from outside Freddie's in Fort Lauderdale around 1:30am.



Black Pake, no decals, no brakes. Riser bars, black rims, white pedals, blue grips, purple top tube pad.

Her friend's silver beach cruiser was also stolen, both their Kryptonite U-Locks were cut by the thieves.

Bike Month Kickoff : March 1st, 2009

As some of you may already know, March is Bicycle Action Month in Miami as proclaimed by Mayor Manny Diaz.



In celebration of this, the Emerge Miami/CM Meetup Group are doing a ride to kickoff the month.

In their own words..

"This is the first day of Bike Month and we will be doing a ride to the beach, come out and ride. This will be a great ride, hope lots of people can come out."

Critical Mass is this Friday & all are encouraged to come out. This ride takes place at dusk so it is advised to bring lights for your bike. Arriving on time is also strongly suggested. That's 6:30pm!

Bike Miami Days : Saturday, February 21st

Bike Miami is back, this time on a Saturday and in conjunction with Flagler Fest. They'll be an antiques market, classic car & motorcycle show, dog walk, yoga, rally and much more.

This month's event seems to have less to do with bikes, I still encourage everyone to come as it is a great family event.

Rickenbacker Causeway race over the William Powell Bridge

It doesn't matter how fast you descend, it's all about who reaches the top first. You will be judged on climbing skills hence the red polka dot jersey theme.

Participants will receive one red dot per win. The one with the most dots at the end of the series is the overall winner.

It was cold and windy and still there was a great turnout at last nights Loose Cannons race. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves trying out the rollers @ Keirin Cycles & the free Red Stripe beer was much appreciated at PS14. Thanks to all those involved in making this happen. Congrats to Ferny on the win.

January Critical Mass : Video

The January Miami Critical Mass ride went very well despite some afternoon showers and a rapid weather change which caused temperatures to drop into the low 50s. Approximately 45 cyclists showed up & joined in on the ride. We ventured through downtown, south on Biscayne Blvd and were briefly escorted by a City of Miami Police cruiser down Brickell Avenue. The officer instructed us to take only one lane and was being helpful with the ride, he mentioned Bike Miami to me and If I recall correctly had a bike rack on his vehicle. We exited Brickell, merged onto US1 and rode SW for a bit until we made a left on 27th ave and proceeded into Coconut Grove. Once at Cocowalk we rode west via Grand Ave & then north on Douglas Rd. The group then took Coral Way back towards Mary Brickell Village ultimately getting back to Government Center. Total distance travelled was 14.3 miles. Here's a link to the route.
